Supervisor Training Supervisor Training Workshops This program consists of a series of workshops on how to supervise higher degree research students at UNSW. It provides an overview of the relevant policies, practices and tools necessary for competent and successful supervision. You will meet key personnel from the Graduate School of Research, meet supervisors with a reputation for excellence in supervision and take part in exercises which will give you the necessary skills you need. A diverse suite of workshops have been designed to support supervisors of higher degree research students at UNSW. All workshops will be 2- 3 hours in length and registration is essential.

The article was written by UNSW Emeritus Professor Adrian Lee (former Pro Vice-Chancellor Education and Quality Improvement UNSW), Carina Dennis (Australasian correspondent of Nature) and Philip Campbell (editor-in-chief of Nature and founder of the Nature mentoring awards). The article provides information on what makes a good mentor including personal characteristics; teaching and communication; building communities; skill development, and networking.
