Successful applicants for second round UNSW Local scholarships will be notified, via email, from the week commencing 22 February 2010.

UNSW Research Excellence Scholarships $30,000 - $35,000

Newly commencing students who have been awarded a University Medal will be considered for Research Excellence Scholarships .

The scholarship comprises an annual stipend of $32,500 (base rate* plus $10,000) plus relocation expenses for students outside the Sydney area to a maximum of $5,000. An additional $5,000 top-up scholarship may be available to applicants in specific research areas.

By completing the application form below you will automatically be considered for a UNSW Research Excellence Scholarship if you are a University Medallist with exceptional research potential.

Other UNSW Local Research Scholarships

UNSW offers the following scholarships to local students of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research at UNSW. Students will be considered for all of these scholarships to undertake either a PhD or a Masters by Research degree, as appropriate.

Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University Postgraduate Awards (UPA) plus a Faculty top-up scholarship $25 - $30,000

Faculty top-up scholarships are awarded to the top ranked applicants in some faculties.

The scholarship comprises an annual stipend of approx $27,500 - $30,000 (base rate* plus $5,000 - $10,000). The value of the top-up scholarship is faculty specific and may vary depending on the number of applications received.

Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University Postgraduate Awards (UPA)

The scholarship comprises an annual stipend of $22,500.

Faculty Postgraduate Awards

Recipients of the following award will be selected from applications received where appropriate. There is no need to submit a separate application.

University College Postgraduate Research Scholarships - approx $23,700* (only available at the UNSW@ADFA campus)
Australian School of Business Research Scholarships - $30,000 pa

* The 2010 base rate is $22,500
