Local Research Student Scholarships Applications for the UNSW scholarships 1 - 4 listed immediately below have now closed (however, see further down this page for other scholarships open year round).
Successful applicants will be notified via email from the week commencing 25 May.
Applications for Semester 1, 2010 will open on this site in early September.
UNSW offers scholarships to local students of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research at UNSW. Students are being considered for these scholarships to undertake either a PhD or a Masters by Research degree, as appropriate. 1. UNSW Research Excellence Awards $30 - $35,000
Research Excellence scholarships are available to newly commencing students who have been awarded a University Medal from any Australian or New Zealand University. A limited number of Research Excellence scholarships may be available for Honours awardees ranked first in their Honours Year (depending on results and number of candidates in the Year).
2. Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University Postgraduate Awards (UPA) plus a Faculty top-up scholarship $25 - $30,000
Faculty top-up scholarships are awarded to the top ranked applicants in some faculties.
3. Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) / University Postgraduate Awards (UPA)
The scholarship comprises an annual stipend of $20,427.
4. Faculty Postgraduate Awards
Recipients of the following awards will be selected from eligible applicants. There is no need to submit a separate application.

Scholarships offered by external providers Postgraduate research scholarships offered by external providers, starting from $20,000pa, are also available at various times throughout the year. |
